Cape Cod Winery is a small family business run by Pete and Erika Orlandella. It’s situated on Oxbow Road in East Falmouth, just three miles from the ocean.

During the 20th century, the location was known for its successful cranberry and strawberry bog operations. Even now, the area is home to many local farms, including Cape Cod Winery’s vineyard.

The vineyard is built on the same land as one of the first strawberry farms in the neighborhood during the early 1900s. It later became a potato and dairy farm. The grounds are rich with agricultural history, and Cape Cod Winery is proud to continue this legacy.

Climate and Soil

The climate in Falmouth is relatively cool and temperate for the most part, particularly in the winter months when the weather is extremely wet. However, the summer months are warm and humid, which can present a challenge for wineries.

High humidity can cause grapes to rot, but Cape Cod Winery seems to combat this fairly well.

The area is perched on glacial sands that are made up of glacial outwash deposits. In the southwestern section of the town, the soil consists of moraine deposits, giving it a more rocky and dense texture.

Cape Cod Winery offers a wide selection of wines, including rich reds, wonderful whites, and remarkable roses. The winery’s most famous wine is Rosé Mermaid Water, a fruity delight that combines strawberry and raspberry aromas.

It’s the perfect refreshment for a summer day. Alternatively, try the Blueberry wine and Cranberry Crush for the ultimate sweet treat.

If you’re more of a white wine drinker, there’s Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc, all of which taste phenomenal.

Perhaps the most standout white wine is the Chardonnay, packed with flavors of toasted oak, vanilla, butter, apple, and a touch of coconut. The result is a mouthwatering creaminess that envelops you with each sip!

If you can, drop by the local market for some seafood to go with the winery’s white wines. They’re the perfect pairing, and you won’t be disappointed with the combination of flavors.

As for reds, Cape Cod Winery boasts a decent range that includes Channel Marker #16 Cabernet Sauvignon, Reel Red, and Nantucket Sound Red Malbec.

The Channel Marker #16 Cabernet Sauvignon in particular is sublime. It provides a rich texture with notes of black currants and dark cherry, alongside subtle hints of vanilla and cocoa.

Grab a bottle to go with any red meat or locally caught pepper-crusted tuna for the ultimate experience.

With their wide range of sumptuous wines, Cape Cod Winery has something delicious to offer no matter your preferences. However, if you’re not sure what type of wine to go for, you might want to do a wine tasting first.
